Deep and narrow glass tank

Question: Deep & Narrow Glass Fish Tank..... 4.5 US Gallons

So I've learned alot of stuff from this site, and I know what to do before you set up a tank, and when I get paided next, i'm going out to buy a water testing kit.....

Now I'm thinking of setting up a deep and narrow tank.... most likely freshwater due to my experience level... I was wondering if people knew of any fish in particular that like (or do well) in deep and narrow tanks? Or even long stemmed/ root plants

Thanks in advance

PS; Also, how would I run a filter for it?

You are going to get a deep and narrow 4.5 gallon? I was going to suggest an angel, but the 4.5 is too small.

How about 1-2 male guppies? Or a betta - I know 5g is recommended, but you could probably be okay in a 4.5.

Red Cherry Shrimps tank. With a deep substrate (4") of enriched substrate, a couple of hardy plants (e.g. Anubias barteri var. nana) and a bunch of stem plants (e.g. Hornwort, Cambomba) for them to climb on.

That's a toughy, what are the dimensions of the tank?
I don't think I'd recommend a betta for a deep narrow tank. They like horizontal swim room and need to get to the top for air.
You could get a small sponge filter for it.

Mystery snails are a lot of fun to watch and they get about 3 inches. Definitely as much fun as fish to watch. THey are Fast! And you could definitely add in a bunch of shrimp to add to the entertainment - ghost and cherry are always good options.

what would be the best air stone for it? a small discular one at the bottom? or a line one that runs vertically? originally i was thinking about the disk one at first, but i want to have sand and that, so i think the vertical one would be better?
thoughts??

Both is fine. I'd go for the vertical one since I've never had any problems with it. If you have the vertical one, it'd be so nice to see your fish swim through in and out of it

A sponge filter is a type of filter created by drawing water through a sponge or other porous media, usually via an airstone. For a better overview, see the following link:
