Excited!!

Right, I dont know where else to put this but I know all you fantastic people can help!

I have made a pact with my bf as I have had alot of bad new recently (deaths and I almost died etc been a rough year) and my weight has shot up. So if I manage to shift the weight he is buying me a 20g tank another massive tank and £100 worth of fish .

I need advice about stocking for the larger tank (it will be from 100g to 50g) the smaller tank I have decided to do convicts after falling in love with BBs!

I look forward to your advice .

aww im sorry for your bad year!!!!!! I Hope this one is better and I hope it made you a stronger person...congrats for still being alive to enjoy this amazing hobby! ....but I can say you should loose the weight if you want too..and for yourself (been there myself) not for the promise of a fish tank..although thats a great incentive!!!!! good luck in your endeavors!

Well I want to but just not had the right motivation and he knows I want to so he is trying to help me, he wouldnt make me lose weight.

I am a much stronger person and take things alot less seriously now! This year is going to be better!

I love your tanks shawnie but I know how aggressive those fish can be and it scares me! How did you get into the hobby?

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough year, but I'm so happy that things are starting to look up for you and we're very happy you're still alive to be a part of Fishlore

Thank you so much for the compliment on my convicts I wish you lived in the United States. I'd love to share some fry with you.

I have faith that you can lose the weight. We're all here to support you and help in whatever way we can Btw-fresh vegetables like celery, carrots and cucumbers were my best friends when I'd get those late munchies

Carrots I can handle but celery and cucumber makes me cry!!

Me and my bf are talking about moving to the usa in about 5 years time after we get married and pay off money we owe here etc but I know we need a job etc first so it might just end up a nice dream . If it does happen I will be hassling you for fry!! Your fish are beautiful.

It was me my dad and my baby sister who almost died, we had a gas leak in our flat. If we had been in there 30 mins longer we would all be gonners but over all its a funny story which makes me laugh! and I use it to remind friends and fmaily why they should get carbon monoxide detectors!!

Edit: I would say that fish are less demanding than 5 girls but I doubt thats true!! I might do some research and get into the malawi cichlids but I would need to do like 6 months research first to make sure I dont mess up lol im such a wimp!!

Bless your heart! Gas leaks are scary for sure. And I've never dealt with them in person, just on television.

Anything we can do to help, just let us know. You're not a wimp! I was just as scared when I started looking into malawi cichlids. Once you figure out species compatibility, it's not so bad.

You can all keep being amazing people!

I may give the malawi cichlids a go but I still want to do more research first then I will be asking you and shawnie! I know I can trust you .

Aww, sorry you've had such a rough year!
I'm here to put the New World Cichlid bug in. A 100 gal. would look great with an Oscar.

lol, Convicts can easily stand up to an Oscar. But personally, my Oscars don't mess with anything in the tank. They're quite laid back for a large cichlid.
JD's, Jewels, Cons, Severums, Blue Acaras, etc. can be housed with Oscars.

hmm thats definitely something to consider. I know oscars have huge personalities from what I have read but then I love the colours of Shawnies fish.

If I could have my way I would have a building built outback with all different types of fish tanks but being england the neighbours would complain and it would cost an arm and a leg. Maybe I should just see if the LFS are recruiting lol.

-Edit: I have just seen the blue acaras! Could they be housed with plecos and clown loaches? they would look really nice in my 125g
