I think you take some garlic, add some water in a small bowl and you mash and mash until you have some liquid while the rest is a blob of mushed garlic. Pour the liquid into the tank jk idk how this is a good tread

Here it comes already chopped in a jar with juice in it. Try and find minced or chopped garlic and use that.

Try soaking their food in it rather then adding it straight to water.

You can buy garlic juice but you can also get a garlic press and press fresh garlic and add that to their food. I have a bottle of garlic juice now that I mix with their frozen or live foods. When my bottle is empty I will be trying out fresh garlic since that can be added to their food also.

You can buy minced garlic in a jar at the grocery store. It comes on it's own juices.
I usually use a drop or so per gallon. You can also buy Garlic Guard at a LFS.

Wow, I was slow. lol

I use garlic as a preventative. Its good against the fight of internal parasites. I make my own discus food so i always put garlic in that.

Anyone have any reasoning behind just adding it to the tank? I've never heard that before and am curious. I was always under the impression you want it inside the fish, meaning digestive tract so you would always give it to them via food. Seems illogical to me to just put it into the water, perhaps i am misunderstanding?

I use it myself about once a week added to food. I have heard of a lot of people just adding it to water too. Of course what they don't eat will be in the water until you vacuum it out so they would kinda get it both ways.

Hello. Good information above. Garlic minced or chopped with the juice in a jar is great. So is fresh garlic. Too, Garlic Guard from the fish store works well also. Not only does it act as a food enhancer but helps to boost the immune system as well. Not just in fish but humans too. It can be added to food or to the tank itself. Kinda like a double whammy! A drop per gallon should do it.
Below is a link concerning garlic:

the garlic juice is used more for when you have fish that WONT eat....it seems to entice them and somehow make them stimulate hunger when the juice is added....otherwise, if a fish is eating fine, adding the fresh garlic to their food is best....once a week I do go around and feed the small pieces to my fish, fresh from the jar....(its cut up that way in the jars of fresh garlic so its easy to target feed) otherwise, im like others, i mix it in with my foods
