my fish swallowed a pebble?

So my JD has been doing some excavating and moving pebbles, and when I looked over at him he appeared to be choking. Could he have swallowed a pebble? will he be ok?

he ate all SIX of the shrimp I bought to help clean his tank. He is a slob and a pig. I think he is the exception to the eye ball sized stomach rule.

They are a lot like us if they can fit it in they will eat it. Their little tummies may be the size of their eyeballs but they is not going to stop them from overeating. My rule for me is if I want to keep it I do not put it in a tank where it will fit in any and I mean any of those fishes mouths. I think to them it is like an all you can eat buffet when we add some live foods. JDs have really large mouths, yes I have a few of them myself. If they can force it into their mouth they will eat it whether you want them to or not. Sorry you lost your shrimp...I hope they weren't too expensive.

I agree with SW!
jd's are cichlids..and MOST cichlids will eat everything, including the kitchen sink, if they can catch it ....
they wont choke on the gravel but will completely redecorate the subtrate and be total bulldozers...especially in breeding mode...
he will eat your catfish eventually in that 10 gal tank.. and he really needs a 55 gal tank soon before he does so...good luck with him! and share some pics when you can...we love pics

I don't know about rocks but I once had some trouble with a pleco sticking to my goldfish and let me tell you when transferred to a 70 gal tank with 3 JD's he was there 2 days tops. Those little buggers are cute but they certainly will eat anything even and ugly pleco.
