Bamboo Help!

I need some info on bamboo, does it grow well when fully submerged? Will it die if fully submerged, and what kind of lighting does it need. Thanks!

Bamboo will die if completely submerged. I have grown it in tanks with the leaves out of the water and is pretty neat.

Hmm... Bamboo Butterfly is right. They like shallow water and the leaves above the water. I'm sure it'll look great!

Okay thanks, I went out and bought some bamboo and the leaves are about an inch underwater. Is that okay? Will the leaves eventually grow out of the water? Is using air stones another alternative?

Yes I tried this too, one thing i can say... IT'S AWESOME !!! The plant will suffocate if you leave too many of the leave in the water, as it wasn't build for photosynthesis to occur under water, you would need at least the top bunch (where most of the leaves are) above the surface, once the trunk grow longer you then can chop off leaves on the trunk and have more of the plants under water, on a hood less tank it looks pretty neat, with all the leaves on top and all.

Yeah truly, and I'm planning on more as a present for myself for Christmas Once you are infected with MTS, there is no cure, you just have to enjoy

Hello Wyldlife...you can also stick the bamboo in your filter if you have a hang on back (HOB). (lid removed of course)

Any other solution? I want to keep it in my tank so it grows.

Bamboo grows from the top. The trunk won't get longer or bigger around. The leaves that are under water will die and if not immediately taken out will pollute your tank.
