protecting tank from insecticide???

well i have a exterminator coming to spary the house today and i need to know everything i need to do to protect the tank from the spray, or mist , or whatever they use. when i was a kid we just unplugged the filter and airpump, then covered the tank with a towel, is this right. know the airpump is right cause the fumes can be carried into the tank through the air, but what about the filter, how long can the fish be ok without the air and filter on

Is there any way you can move the tank to a room where there is no spray? If not, I would say cover the WHOLE tank and everything that goes into it with a towel. Turn off fan's, air conditioners, heaters, etc and let the room sit for an hour so the spray settles. But at 10 minutes intervals turn the filter on for 5 minutes and turn it off again so you can at least get some waste out of the tank. But during the whole process make sure EVERYTHING that goes in or near your tank does not have spray on it.

Hello. If you haven't been sprayed yet, I'd recommend covering everything fish related with plastic. Turn everything off, filter, air pumps lights all of it. Make sure your filter media stays wet. Your fish will be fine for several hours. Once you go back into your fish room open all of the windows and let it air out a bit before you uncover the tank. Turn on fans and AC units if you have them. Once you're aired out then uncover the tank and turn everything back on.
Best of luck!
