Weird cloudy bloom and - fungus, maybe?

Seriously, you have no probelms for months and then two - or three - come along at once.

Soon after I got Ryu settled in her new tank (she was quite weak and had to be in a breeder box for a couple of days) the water went cloudy. I though 'okay, it's just some kind of bacterial bloom, or kicked-up dust, it'll go away in a couple of days.' Guess what? It's gotten worse. And it's spread to my ten-gallon. At least the fish don't seem too bothered.

In both tanks the symptoms are thusly - whitish, cloudy water creating poor visiblity, and a sort of white, dust-like substance clinging to everything that's not a plant, with it heavier and slightly more furry-looking on the plants themselves.

I haven't yet done a water-test since it happened, but the levels were all peachy-keen on Monday and I've yet seen no reason for a cycle-crash.

So, help? Please?

I am very sorry about your tanks, I have never had a problem like that before. I hope you can get help, maybe it is the water levels.

Hello. It sounds like you may be experiencing an algae bloom and or white hair algae. Both of which will eventually go way on it's own in time. As for the white hair algae you can just remove it but don't be surprised if it returns. It has to run its course before it finally goes away for good.

Too, a lot of algae problems can be caused by lighting and the amount of time that you have your lights on or off.

id do a test asap as mini cycles can sneak up at any time(been there did that a few times)..and if you already have a stressed/sick fish baby, a mini cycle could be terminal good luck!
