Raising your temp to 84-85. Fresh water ICH cannot tolerate high temps and will die off. Your fish will handle the temp just fine. Do regular water changes, making sure to vacuuming the gravel bed. Keep this up for no less then 2 weeks.

my temp has always been at 86 since the beginning of tank. its a discus tank so needs high temp. so i guess some strain of ick can happily exist at 86 degrees, breed and multiply

or it might not be ich ....if it is, the temps will kill it and knock it off the fish, but you have to vacuum and clean up the spores that survive in the subrate or it will reinfest..2 vacs a week for at least 2 weeks during the ich cycle

neupane, you may be right about it being a particularly resilient strain, because I've heard of ich surviving high temps.

I've tried a few products for ich, but had the best results with Kordons RidIch+. It didn't affect my biofilter, and didn't stain the silicone (altho I could've just gotten lucky because it does contain malachite green, so it may stain) and my anubias and amazon sword survived it. The product claims not to affect the biofilter, and it didn't affect mine; but I still tested my water everyday when using it, because you can never be sure.

good luck, hope you get rid of it soon !!

There's a new product I'm myself am using for my SW. It's safe for all swims of life. FW/SW. It's kills the free swimming protozoans and the infestations of the fish. So far it's working wonderfully!
It's called NO-ICH by FishVet. I found it at Pet Solutions. So far it's the only thing that's been working in my tank, without harming my inverts and corals.
You need to remove the carbon. It's also really nice because it doesn't stay in your tank for long. So no over dosing worries and you don't need to test for anything.

I used Kordon's Ick attack successfully. It differs from their Rid-Ick product in that it is herbal instead of chemical based. This makes it safe for scaleless fish and invertebrates. It does not stain the tank, but will turn the water slightly brown temporarily after a week or so. It has the worst smell you can ever imagine, but it worked extremely well.

My tank is just getting over an Ich infestation, I too used Kordon's Ick Attack succesfully. I raised my temperature to 82 -83 and my tank is just about back to normal, no white spots and very little flashing. My biological filter is perfectly fine. I was worried about my little Cories but they came through just fine. I did do a few small gravel vacs, they tell you to avoid water changes during treatment. I just did them right before the next dose. Ick Attack smells about as bad as Amquell+ does, but it works well and does so without Chemicals. The brownish water color should go away soon once dosing is complete and you can do a good 30 -40% water change. Kordon states that Ick Attack works on other disease's including Velvet which is similar to Ich.
