Synodontis nigriventris

Hello,

I have done some research on the syno in my tank (Petsmart were their usual useless selves) and judging by how he looks, swims (upside down) acts, markings and where he hides etc I am about 95% sure he is a Synodontis nigriventris.

My problem (well its not really a problem ) is that on doing a small amount of research it says they should be in a small shoal of 2-3. I have a 20 gallon tank - which I will be upgrading in 2-3 months to a 50 gal or more, how big do they grow on average and does anyone have any advice or experience they can offer?

Thanks in advance .

I can't offer any personal experience, but PlanetCatfish has their size maxing out around 3.9" and indicates that they do best when kept in groups.

the males get to 3 to 3 1/2 inches the femles abut 4 inches it is recommended to keep them in groups of 4, they are described as being peaceful and suitable to any communithy aquarium they should eat flakes and frozen foods and dapnia
