| Angels w/ Tinfoil Barbs I'm thinking about trading two common plecos for two quarter or fifty cent size angels. Will the tinfoil barbs try to eat them? I put cory cats with them before and they haven't done anything but they were there for only a short while.
Thanks. |

| Good afternoon. Here is a link on compatibility that you may find helpful. I don't think you'll have a problem with Tin Foil Barbs/Angels in the same tank. Tin Foil Barbs are best in small schools. Best of luck and keep us posted

| Thanks for the link but Tinfoil barbs should not be kept with angelfish nor colombian tetra's. I like the site though it really is helpful! |

| I'm not sure if it's fin nipping, it did not say. Perhaps? Hmm, that messes the my whole plan. Do you think it would be a good idea to try colombian tetra's anyway? |

| I've only had the angels and the tin foil barbs before and it was many years ago. I don't recall having any problems with them though, and I did keep the barbs in a school of 6. I don't have personal experience with the Columbian Tetras. Let's see what some other members have to say. Keep us posted and hope you can share some pictures down the road.

| Angles are members of the Cichlid family. Different water requirments. Tinfoil barbs get very very big. |

| Hmm, what type of fish goes well with a tinfoil barb that doesn't get as big? |

| According to the fish profile on this site they get along with Silver Dollars (6-7 inches), Bala Sharks (which get huge at 13") and Plecos (maybe a Bristle Nose which maxes out at 4 or 5 inches) |

| Yes, but they're too big! I might press my luck with colombian tetras. |

| I bought a couple of angelfish and hopefully they'll get along with the barbs. |

| Came home today and found one of the angel fish died. I removed the other angelfish and moved him to my 10g, I am leaving him there until I can find another owner. Tinfoil barbs do not get along with angelfish, I feel really bad now... |

| Are your sure your angel fish died at the hands (fins?) of your Barb? |

| Would giant danios be too small? How about some blue or gold gourami, they get pretty big. |

| I am not to sure but the fins were missing and some parts of the fins of the angelfish that survived have some missing fins as well. It's possible that the two angel fish might of had a fight but I'm not taking a risk of leaving the angel fish with the tinfoils. The tinfoil tank is for my Dad's and he said he didn't like gourami's, I showed him the Danio's he didn't like it either. He likes fish that has similar color of Koi or goldfish. I think I'm just going to let my Dad figure it out and add comments if it shouldn't be allowed with the Tinfoils. Thanks for all the help! Last edited by eiginh; September 3rd, 2009 at 04:11 PM.

| It's a shame the Tinfoils didn't get along with the Angels, since there are Koi Angel Fish. |

| It is a great shame! Too bad the LFS didn't have the koi angelfish my dad wouldn't exchanged the plecos for them instead of the white ones. The angelfish is hanging out in my 10 gallon but I hope he/she doesn't pick on my sparkling gouramis. |

| Word! I think my sparkling gourami's are picking on the Angelfish, a lot of his fins are missing! Or is this fin rot? |
