Helping a Friend Out

Hey there, one of my friends with a 20 gallon tank stand broke yesterday. Lucky his tank did not break and he will be getting a 75 gallon soon. So he asked me to keep 4 clown loaches, 1 pleco and 1 rainbow shark. I put the loaches and pleco in my 29 and the shark in my 10 gallon. Should I just keep a eye on the water and everything should be ok? Thanks.

That's nice that you want to help your friend. For the time being, he could have kept his tank on the floor.
Definitely keep an eye on your water conditions, the pleco and probably the clowns will produce a lot of waste, so step up the water changes.
You'll also have to keep your eye out for any aggression.
I hope he gets his bigger tank soon, the pleco and clowns can grow really big.

I've got to second what Lucy said - step up the water changes!

Once your friend has the 75gal, is he taking the fish back?

I agree with Lucy. It's great that you're helping out, but you've added a large bioload to your tanks in a short time so you'll need to up water changes and be vigilant about water testing until your biological filter can play catch-up. I would expect to see a mini-cycle here, but it shouldn't be anything you can't handle. Just make sure your friend can take back the fish soon!

awesome job! its so nice to be able to help out others along with the extra bioload and mini cycles, keep an eye on the fish in your 10 gal.adding a rbs to that mix of tetras and cories, he might be a bit agressive and not be very nice to your own fish in that small area...especially your cories
