| one of my leopard danios looks sick Not sure whats wrong but it looks a little limp, kind of crooked, not swimming to the top often, just hanging out near the bottom to middle, only ate very little for last 2 days. Just does not look right ? My params are 0 nitrites, 0 ammonia and 10 nitrates, did partial water change as usual on sat. My friend fed the fish last week while I was on vacation and I suspect she may have overfed a little. Everyone else in the tank looks great (cories, guppies, danios and ghost shrimp) Any suggestions....................... |

| hmm... is his spine kinda crooked? like of L shape? if so, it could be a sign of fish tuberculosis.. |

Usually when they eat too much there tummies get big. The biggest problem with overfeeding is usually uneaten food decaying and producing ammonia.
But I really don't have any idea why he died from. Maybe someone else will have an idea. |

| is this normal for guppies I recently added guppies to my tank on Saturday and noticed that today 2-3 of them are at the very top of the tank for periods of time. Is this normal.
All of my water params are fine, 0 nitrite, 0 ammonia and 10 nitrate.
Thanks much |

| Mine are at the a lot top too. Keep an eye on them, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. |

| anyone know anything about neon tetra disease Quite possible my guppy has this and one of my danios already died from what looks like this. What do I need to do to ensure the rest of my fish dont get it? |

| There are some fish that suffer from NTD but I'm pretty sure guppies and danios don't.
What are the symptoms? |

| The danio died yesterday after looking limp, a little crooked and isolating from the group swimming with some difficulty. It was like that for 2 days. Now 2 guppies are looking/doing the same......... |

| Your readings are ok, but you knew that already. Big help huh?
If your danio hadn't passed first I would guess the guppies brought something in with them.
Is there any aggression going on? |

| no aggression at all. the one male guppie I took out (put is a small container for now, did not want to make the others sick) because he was almost laying on the bottom looking really weird and the other male is at the very top. 2 females look like they are trying to eat something off of the heater and everyone else looks fine....... |

| I'm really sorry. I know it's rough to lose them and not know why.
I'd leave the little guy seperated for now. Is his water heated?
Could anything have contaminated the water?
I'm sorry, I know I'm not being much help here. |

| surprisingly I found a big fly stuck on the filter that looked like it was there for a minute as it was a little fuzzie. I did a partial water change of saturday and will do another one tomorrow. no heater for the separated one but it is about 85 degrees in here, totally hot. hopefully now that the fly is out everything can go back to normal............. |

| 85 is pretty warm, what's the tank temp?
Warmer water has less oxygen, if you don't have one already you might want to add an airstone. |

| 85 in here means it should keep tank pretty warm but not at 85. the tank is 78 so it should be ok at room temp
what are they eating off of the heater? maybe algae Last edited by Lucy; August 11th, 2009 at 11:21 PM.

| 78 should be ok for them then.
My guppies pick at the algae on my tank walls now and then. Pretty funny cause they're all lined up. lol |
