First Algae Problems

Hey Everyone, I have noticed that my 10 gallon is starting to show signs of algae on my rock ornaments and in small patches on the glass. I have never scraped the walls since my tank was cycling so I am not sure what to do about it? Thanks!

what color algae? some algae problems can be from overstocked, over feeding, near sunlight direct or indirect, too much watts per gallon ...lights on too long...do any of those fit?

There is a really good post about algea in the "other aqaurium topics", aqaurium water section by "sirdarksol"...worth a read if you are concerned. Good luck.

The algae is not green yet it looks brown on my rock hut and whiteish/gray on the glass. It think it may be from keeping the lights on too long, which I keep on for 11 hours right now?

If it is brown, it is probably Diatoms. It is a type of algae that is very common in newly cycled tanks. While a bit on the ugly side, it is totally harmless and goes away on it's own in a few weeks.

I agree with the above posters. Although it might be unsightly now it will go away in time on it's own. Below is some information concerning Algae that you may find helpful.
Best of luck
