How much food should we give them?

We have a 130 litre tank with 4 zebra danios, 6 neon tetras, 6 cherry barbs, 6 harlequin rasboras, one infant bristlenose plec and 4 leopard corydoras. And possibly 6 rummynose tetras that hubby might be bringing home tonight.

We have tropical fish flakes, bloodworms and tretramin tropical granules.

Algae flakes/pellets and the odd bit of zuchinni for the bristlenose plec and cories.

We are feeding them bloodworms twice a week at the most. But we are worried we are not feeding enough LOL as it is a piranahfest when we do feed them - any food! In fact whenever we go near the tank from maybe lunchtime on most of them follow us from one side of the tank to the other.

We put in two pinches of tropical flakes, and two pinches of tetramin, 4 pellets for the cories and half a flake for the plec when the lights go off (although he steals the cory food too, and they all seem to chomp down the bloodworms.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

How much should we be feeding this hungry bunch? They are not looking overfed.

the plec will love bloodworms aswell and mine love cucumber (as do my guppies) i use a thing called a screwcumber to stop the cucumber from floating and it can be used with any typ of veg u would add to ur tank i have 3 BN in my tank and i cut a cucumber in thirds then cut each third into half scoop out the seeds ( as they will clog the filter) use the screcumber to both haves and add to diff parts of the tank. .i go through a whole cucumber a week. they also eat the alge wafers ( as do the guppies) and bloodworm pellets

You should feed what they can consume in 3 minutes. If they finish wha tyou put in soone r than that, give them a little more. Your cories need more than 1 pellet each. Chances are they don't each get one. Drop some more sinking stuff in there for them each feeding. You definitely want to make sure you don't overfeed though. Your tank (approx. 35 US gallons) appears to be very overstocked when you consider the adult sizes for all your listed fish. So feed lightly and stay on top of those water changes weekly.

Craig has given good advice above. Another common rule of thumb is the fish's stomach is about the size of its eye. So you don't want to put in much more food than that.

I usually make sure that the food's all eaten within a few minutes, and their bellies are a little bit fuller. I wouldn't worry about underfeeding, unless your fish have sunken-in bellies. It's much easier to overfeed and cause health and water quality problems.

Hello Fishy. You've been given great information above. Most importantly don't over feed. It can lead to a multitude of issues. I feed my fish twice a day, every 12 hours no more no less. A variety of food is always better
Enjoy the site.
