Not nesseccarily. All bettas have a different temperment. Even ones kept in a community aquarium may hate it, and one day go from being fine to being anything but fine, my grandfather (yes-
MTS is definatly heriditary!) Used to keep a betta in one of his community tanks, it was fine for a year, and then one day killed all the other fish, included some neon tetras. It can go from being fine to not being fine.
Some indeed make community fish, however not with nippers such as Danios. Bettas are tempermental and can go from one extreme to another.
I don't think Lucy was painting them with a broad brush, just warning that if the betta says I want out, it has somewhere to go, and it isn't reccomended without having a back-up tank.
