how many and what kind of shrimp

what type and how many shrimp can i keep, i have a 29 gallon that is about 2 weeks into cycling and im still deciding on my stock, 1 DG, GBR, or pecock gudgeon, 6 cherry barbs, 4 bandit corys, 1 clown plec is what i am thinking right now

HUMMMM would think the shrimp would have to be pretty good size to keep from being eaten.

I agree with carol. I would get a bamboo shrimp. They tend to get 2-3 inches. The tank mates they would have would eventually have the curiosity to try them out. I suggest you have enough hiding spots so they can escape. I would keep 1 shrimp for every 2 gallons. It is normally 3-6 per gallon but since you are using larger shrimp to prevent feasting, it must have more room

well the DG could but is generally peacfull. Your stock sounds fine as it is, so you could try cherry chrimp.

all of the above except the pleco will eat them. they will also eat their babies before their exoskeleton gets hard.

If you really want shrimp you'd be much better off setting up a 10 gallon tank for them. All you need is a heater and an air-driven sponge filter to keep most species.

i dont really what shrimp, i thought i could use them as a clean up crew, just a couple of them

Shrimp don't actually eat enough algae or leftover food to be much help for cleanup.
