$200 is kind of high IMO. If the tank were a complete setup (included LR, corals, fish, etc.) then it would be a better deal. Also, there is no mention of a stand. Maybe you could start your offer at $125-150?

You wouldn't? The Biocube will weigh close to 300 lbs. full. I'd put it on a stand, personally. I used to have the Biocube 8 on my kitchen counter (before I moved and sold it), but obviously that weighs a lot less.

Young Man from buffalo,
Not knowing brand name or the condition of other equipments, hard to say. I believe new bioCube goes for around $250. So make him/her an offer lower than $200 for everything.
Just make sure tank, lighting and filter works. You can also look for other items on the Craigs List which you can piece meal. This is better since can add other equipments w/o modifying structure of the set up.

I miss Buffalo, especially Ellicott Complex!

Good Luck w/ hunting,lol!

I was in Buffalo in 70's, lived off campus on Winspear (I dont know if this is correct spelling. It's been so long lol!) right behind Main Campus. Not too far from Main St and winspear where there was sort of fancy Chocolate/Candy Shop if memory serves.

I'm pretty sure they cost 279.00 brand new. The fact it has new lighting after only 6 months makes me wonder a little. I'm with Harpua on this one. I wouldn't go any higher then 150.00 Otherwise I'd just save up for a new one thats under warranty.

Actually, it's recommended that PC bulbs are replaced every 6-8 months. Even it they are still working, there is a shift in the spectrum/intensity that the bulbs put out that can lead to algae issues. The replacement bulbs really don't surprise me at all in that respect.

There was a shop in Louisville, where I lived before I moved, that had the Biocubes for excellent prices. It is possible to find them cheap new, if you take your time and seek out the deals. All the Biocubes in this shop had a $25 mail in rebate. After rebate, the 8 gallon was $99.99, the 14 was $149.99, and the 29 gallon was $199.99.... hence my hesitation to suggest that $200 is a good price for a used one.

I think its a good deal. New ones cost around $800. It also come with stuff needed to start a saltwater tank, so I think it's a good deal for a 29.

Good Lord, $800 for a Biocube 29? I suggest frequenting Craigslist; it's only a matter of time.

Smart move, Matt! Low-balling and making them "talk you up" usually helps you save $, especially if they've been trying to sell for awhile!

Please keep us posted. We're very excited for you.
