Tank Cycled!

Hey Everyone, it seems that my tank has cycled in both of my tanks!
ammonia: 0
Nirite: 0
nitrate: 10
pH: about 7.0 in both tanks

Now that everything has finally settled down, when do I do my next water change? I had been doing one everyother day when the nitrite was high. So if I do a water change about every week do I only vaccum one side of the tank and then the other side the next week? Also the only thing I have replaced in my AquaClear fitlers is the carbon because I have heard that I dont need to replace the foam because there is no need to unless it is falling apart! Thanks!

You got it WolfPack...congrats on being cycled!! Water changes now will depend on your nitrate reading (assuming all else stays o.k) I do mine each week, as I have "messy fish" who poop alot!!! Leave your filter media until it is falling apart, if it gets really clogged and dirty, rinse it in the used tank water during a water change. Vaccuming one side at a time will prevent a possible mini cycle. Sounds like you have it all under control. Enjoy your fish!

Yahoo on the cycled tank!!!
U should do a water change weekly, about 20% and do partial gravel each time (i wouldnt do 1/2, maybe a 1/4 each time at the most).
The carbon is purely a personal choice, not everyone will tell you the same thing as to whether or not you should use it.
Right, the filter itself only needs changing when it's falling apart.

If anyone uses a AquaClear, I have something called "Biomax" that sits on top of the foam and carbon, so do I ever really need to replace that as well? Thanks for the help!

Morning Wolf. No. Do not replace the biomax. Rinse it in your siphoned tank water once a month and it will last for years. You don't have to replace the sponge either until it's absolutely falling apart.
