| hmm... is it a new tank? if so, it could be because its cycling. |

| Hi Aldric, as Tony says, cloudy water can occur because of an algea bloom during the cycling process. The test strips you are using are not always reliable and can sometimes give a false reading. If you can get an API Master testkit your results will be much more accurate. They seem expensive at first, but are good for hundreds of tests. How long have you had your tank? Are there fish in it? |

| Hello Aldric. Some good advice above. If you would be so kind as to fill out your aquarium information, it will really help others to help you more. Have fun and enjoy the site.

| I hope things get better!!! if you can post your readings for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates, that will help alot...mini cycles can happen too often and ppl think because the tank is older, it must be cycled.....as will filling in all your aquarium info
what test kit are you using? whats your tank maintenance schedule? is the tank near a window? is it a common plec? 25 gals is too small for just the plec and he will make so much waste, its hard to keep the tank not cloudy....what and how much do you feed the fish? |

| until you can get a test kit, id go with partial water changes with some prime for just in case measures...adding some new carbon or extra filter floss will help also but if its a mini cycle, just letting it go through the process will help and the daily water changes will keep the fish safe |

I would not feed your fish for one day and see if that helps. I started out with test strips and they were not much help, the API test kit is worth every penny and I think it is something everyone should have. Good Luck! |

I'm pretty much sure is overfeeding or type of food. I have some algue wafers that do that to my tanks for around 3 hours. Good Luck. |

| because the tank is in a mini cycle for some reason at least you know why its cloudy! a bacteria bloom is occurring with the mini cycle and daily water changes will clear this up and finish up the cycle...just for curiosity, test your tap water for nitrates ..and make sure you bang that #2 bottle for the nitrates really hard on the counter..those crystals need a good mixing so you dont get a false reading...and how did you get a 4 reading LOL? ive seen 5/10/20 etc |

| im useing a fluval3 filter and no when i check it it dont always need cleaning ( tho i swish it around anyway in removed tank water)
as to how much i feed and how long it takes for them to eat ive already posted that in my update post
i feed enough for them to finish eating in 2 mins twice a day
i use flake i also add in alge wafers a few times a week and bloodworm pellets a few times a week
as for the 4 it was suposed to be 5 but was a typo ( typed to fast) |

| I am having the same problem.... I do think mine was from over feeding though. Is it ok to do a, say, 25% water change everyday to clear it up? |
