| If that's what it is, yes, it's bad.
I don't know that much about guppies or live bearers but sometimes (I don't know why)
they can get a prolapse of the uterus or intestines.
I've read that sometimes it can correct it's self. Other times it's fatal to the fish.
Wait and see what others have to say. I hope I'm wrong. |

| Are you sure that's a female? The tail looks male.
You might want to Q your guppy so it doesn't get picked at.
Here's a couple of threads about it: sick guppy tumors HELP...what's happening to my guppies
IMO, I wouldn't try the salt treatment that's in the 3rd link. I provided that to you for the picture. |

| Did she give birth a couple days ago? if so it could be her uterus like lucy said, it sometimes corrects itself. i never had that happen to me, but ive heard it does happen when large numbers of fry are born at the same time. Lets wait for someone who knows for sure. |

| Can't speak about a prolapsed uterus, but I've had several guppies with prolapsed intestines. All of them have recovered, and don't show any long-term problems.
Separate the fish from the others, and feed it sparingly (if at all). The danger of keeping it with other fish is the possibility that the prolapse will get nipped, causing bacterial infection. Most likely the fish is stressed, and won't want to eat anyway. You might leave the lights off too, to let the fish rest.
In my cases, the sack recedes back in the body within a few days, and the fish will start to act normally again.
Hope that helps a little, and good luck! |

Females tend to be rounder and a bit fatter than males. Males have thin delicate bodies, while the females are robust. This is because the females have the uterus(duh!). Their organs are placed differently than the males because of this, making it look rounder AND giving room for the developing fry. IF she DID infact give birth a few days ago, IMO she would keep the males ***** and give birth 3-4 weeks later as they have been known for storing the ***** and use it 2 to 3 births over and over. however, the gravid spot doesnt always work. Check to see if you can find maybe a pink spot. My female once had a pink spot instead of dark, and she ended up not having birth due to stress. If they get scared or stressed, they will hold the babies untill the the location is safe and stress free. They sometimes (if put in lots of stress) suck up the babies. I dont remember what it was called, but the babies just desintigrate and disappear inside of her. Also, if you feel your female is pregnant and you noticed a change in her body shape, she could be pregnant. You will know for sure after a while. how long have you thought she's been pregnant? |

| Hello Matt. Hate to see that your fish is ill. The only thing that I know of that can be done is to let mother nature take her course. I don't know if she'll still give birth or not. Best of luck for a full recovery. |

| Oh gosh, Matt. Honestly, I've never heard of anyone going that. I imagine the risk of infection and the stress would be very high. Wouldn't have any idea how you would close her should she survive.
It's not something I would attempt.
I'm so sorry. |

| Im sorry matt. If she starts looking tired or lethargic she's probably getting weaker. its hard when you are losing fish. You've tried your best. I dont think a C-sestion would be appropriate either. I would just let her rest and see if she can get through this. |

| I remember having a guppy do that on me. She didn't survive though, her uterus ruptured. I sure do hope yours pulls through, it's not a pretty sight and its even tougher when you lose them. Get well soon, She-Guppy! |

| Im so sorry Matt This is such a sad situation. I do understand that perhaps if something must be done, then I would quickly add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt to 5 gallons of water. This may help her pass the fry ( although I doubt that they are alive at this point) Please do not do a type of c-section, the fry cannot be saved like that and you will lose your fish.. make sure your water is perfectly clean and aerated.. Im so sorry you have to go through this .. |
