A bit of Help with the basics please.

Hi all, Its going to be a while before i can start my tank set up and cycling, So I just wanted to get some of the basics down So i just have a few questions like
-What should i feed them? My tank kit came with a free sample pack of some tetra flakes?
- It gets Kinda hot here in the summer so i was wondering what could i do to cool the tank down, if need be?
-If i loose power is there anyway i can keep the water temp up? or just wait it out and hope for the best?
-Any one got any ideas where i could get TSS in the ME/NH areas?
-When i bought my air stone there were two in the pack, is there a way to use both with one pump? or is one just a replacement?
- For a water conditioner i bought Tetra AuquaSafe This is what people mean when the say treat the water with a conditioner when doing water changes, right?

Thanks for any help. Im trying to get a good idea of what im doing so i dont get all the little guys in danger

depends what fish your keeping for feeding but varied diets make them heathy and perhaps frozen water bottles...... you could get a splitter for your air tubeing yeah but prime rocks for conditioner and welcome to fishlore

Hi Billy

1) It depends on what kind of fish you plan to keep. A varied diet with almost any species is a good idea.
2) Some members use frozen water bottles and float them in the tank.
3) I wrap blankets around my tanks and use hand warmers in ziplock bags. You might want to get a battery operated aerator.
4) Nope. lol
5) There are little adapter you can buy, ugh, can't remember what they're called, so you can add another hose and stone.
6) Yes, AquaSafe is fine. Many of us use Prime or Amquel+ because it'll detox ammonia should there be a mini cycle. Stress Coat is good also.

You can try Drsfostersmith.com for the tss, they sell a lot of fish supplies and the shipping is reasonable. Yes Tetra aqua safe is for treating the tap water...

Thanks for the quick answers. Im planning on getting Cherry Barbs or neon tetras or platys or guppies, i dont know how im gonna choose which ones i want... I'll probably get a lil ghost shrimp too... And would the fish im interested in like brine shrimp? I was looking into those cuz i want to give them a tasty treat now and again but im not sure what. I liked the idea of making a brine shrimp hatchery... Again thanks for the Help!

Thanks Carol I wasn't sure if a gang valve just allowed you to control air flow or also let you add another stone.
