Yesterday my
LFS finally got in their $50 10 gallon kits. I had been waiting and prepared, as the shipment was a couple weeks late.
After getting it all set up I seeded it with a few tablespoon's worth of gravel in a piece of new pantyhose I had been keeping in the filter of the 20 gallon to gather bacteria. I put in some flake food. I checked this morning, and it's all cycled!
For the time being, the tank is intended to be a fry grow up tank, but after the fry grow up.. Oh, the possibilities! It is pebble and gravel bottom, 'lightly planted' with silk and plastic plants (I'm getting live plants once I have some more money). I would prefer not to divide it, as I like the look of it now, but I can if I need to.
I am considering having cories in with the fry (so that the cories will already be established if I add a
betta or other fish later), but that depends on how many fry there are.
Considering:
the two runty swordtails (stopped growing at about the size of a rasbora) and some cories
the two runty swordtails and a school of tetras
a betta and some cories
two dwarf puffers (I would change the gravel for sand, of course)
a school of tetras and some cories
Or whatever you guys can imagine up!
