I finally found some crushed coral. Is it better to just put some in the bottom of the tank loose or should I place it in the nylons?

it all depends on if you want it as part of your subtrate..removing it is tough so nylons if you dont want to leave it there

Thanks.... with the way my pH is I might have to leave it in. I have a sample sitting out right now to test tomorrow to see how much the ph of the tap water changes.

Hey there! I just put a quarter cup in my 5 gallon tank - sprinkled on the bottom. It upped my pH from 6 or less to 8 in a week. I did NOT want it that high. Eek! And now I'm trying to pick it out. So I'd vote very little at first and in a baggy.
