Moving Fish Tank

Hello Everyone, First off being a noob I did not do a fishless cycle and I wish I did not add fish to start the cycle. I am in my second month and it is only half done, nitrite at 1.0. Anyway, I will be moving my tanks in a month about a hour and a half away. Will this start my whole cycle over again? Also, when I move I have a friend with a fully cycled tank, so when I get there should I put some of his gravel into my tank to help it along or will this mess everything up and kill the fish? Thanks.

WolfPack21.

This is what I would do:

I would stop feeding the fish at least one day prior to moving date. Fish seem to handle stress better when not digesting food.

I would purchase two 5 gal buckets, two battery operated airpumps, four or five feet of airhose, and two mid sized air-diffuser device (e.g. soft bubble wand), and one zip-lock bag.

When the time comes to move the tanks. Place all the filter media (if possible dump the whole filters there as well), most decor including fake plants, in one of the 5 gal buckets and use the other bucket for the fish. Place one aeration device in each.

Place the Java Fern in a zip-locked bag without water, just dump a piece of wet napkin and allow some air to be trapped in.

Once your tanks are set and running at your new place, acclimate your fish and keep an eye on them. They are likely to experience some stress during the moving process. I would feed them the next day.
