Converting my community tank to a species tank

Currently I have a 100 gallon community tank. I want to rescape this tank and convert it to a species tank. The only problem is deciding whether to stock it with dwarf puffers or scarlet gem badis. What do you guys suggest?

Would a species tank of both scarlet gem badis and neon tetras work?

Technically speaking, that wouldn't be a species tank.

I'd say the Badis, they are so unusual and cool! And, you could have neons with them as well although it wouldn't be a species tank.

either way your going to need quite a densly planted tank as i have 3 puffers who quite happily get nr eachother. but the badis chase eachother a fair bit. how about sectioning the tank in 2 then you could have both?

Yea I am planning on adding a lot more silk plants as well as a ton of java moss. But deciding which fish to get is so hard. Depending on which one I choose, how many would I be able to fit into my tank?

hahaha.. ok ok.... so it would be a a 2 species tank... I'm still up in the air about it... I've seen the pics of everyone's puffers, can people post the pics of their badis to help me better decide?

I don't think dividing such a large tank would look so well... Once I have decided on which fish to choose and if I still want the other fish, I would probably end up setting up a smaller tank for them.

Scarlet Badis are quite rare (Of the top of my head I can't think of any FL owners) but there is a good(ish) one here: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Dario_dario.php.
