I agree with tony..use some coolers ..the disposable ones at walmart are pretty cheap ...just make sure they arent swished around alot and the heat doesnt get too high...

Id recommend adding prime as it will detox ammonia from the fish waste in the bag and some stress coat+ if you can.

i would put the fish in the AC for sure, any heat above 95 could be very dangerous, trust me, when my dad moved us he put two oscars in the car behind the moving truck and two hours later when had fish soup, not good, also he used a water fountain water bottle and cut the top off, there was no insulation, good luck, go with the coolers

I'd use coolers, or if you happen to have a 10 gallon or less you can use that too, it's a pain in the !#$ but if you fill it about 1/4 of the way full with water that is already good, like from the tank after a recent water change, and put your fish in there with some decor just so that have something you should be fine. I'd also suggest not using the bags, the coolers would work wonderfully (btw are you talking about the polystyrene foam coolers that chip appart at the slightest pressure) if you are just be wary that they do fall apart easily though leeching of the styrene into the water is almost non-existant. Do however keep them in the car with if you use coolers or if you use the tank method, since there won't be anyway to cool it while you are on the road. I wish you both the best of luck and let us know how it turns out,

Hello. Some really great information above. I would like to add that you can buy battery powered air supply at your LFS for around $12. Add some Prime, Nova Aqua+, whatever you use to add slime and reduce stress for your fish. I would avoid foam coolers and use a hard plastic one that has never seen soap.
Best of luck with your move.

question to you aquarist: what do you see wrong with the foam coolers? As long as the water isn't heated to anything rediculously high in temp the fish would be fine. There isn't any leeching until it gets higher in temp.

just wonder if you had another issue, that's all :-D

Hello inari...no scientific information just a personal preference. Too, most foam coolers do not have a lid that will latch as hard plastic ones do. Also, using the hard plastic ones would be safer and less likely to spring a leak during transport should it get tossed around.
Take care

Well atleast they are all logical. Some people claim leeching issues, which isn't true, I did think of the weakness of the coolers and I do have to say that's true since they are designed to keep things at a relatively decent temp anyway have a good one I was just wondering that's all!!!
