Ahh, the satisfaction of a perfect pull.

Don't you just love it when one quick dip gives you exactly 5ml?

Matt, you're a genius! That immediately made me think of all my syringes for medicating the kitties, but the biggest is 3cc. Still, maybe I will do that. Though I don't know, I kind of enjoy the dipping game.

the dipping game is fun, unless you have fish that think its food(your hand) every time you pour out too much and gotta dip again! LOL

My daughter's guppies do that! That's why she has to pull her own water for tests. It makes me laugh because she jumps.

She gets so mad as well because I've been testing for a few months now, so I know the one drop game when it's just over 5ml and she always ends up pouring too much.

I have a 12 ml measuring syringe and it does the trick. Takes less than 10 seconds but I guess it also takes out the fun of the pull and drip.

I use a dropper and add until I hit 5 mL. I'm not that good at the dipping game.

*edit* For those with small tanks, do you all ever worry about residue from the chemicals getting into the tank? I'm probably just paranoid, but it's just another reason I use a dropper.

Apres testing, I always rinse out the tubes and caps at least six times under the tap before I put the stuff away, to remove any residual chemicals. That way I'm always starting with a 'fresh' tube. Carryover from university chemistry training

I do too, but I'll admit to letting the test tubes sit for a while sometimes. I guess it is more of a concern for us lazy folks. LOL.

I actually leave the chemicals in the tubes until next time I test. Then do many rinses and roll up a paper towel to get any gunk left over. I know I should rinse them immediately, but my tank is at work and I usually test at the end of the day. Whatever, I'm just lazy . . .

AH the small satisfactions of life I have to do chlorine tests every four hours at work and I use the same kind of tube. BUT am required to rinse the tubes out before use and after use to make sure none of the reagent remains in the tube from the last test. If it does it will skew the results. So out of habit I rinse my tubes then use a 5ml syringe to fill the tube
