| You mention in your previous posts that there are 6 pet stores in your area, but you only state that you've tried to return the balas to the store where you purchased them. Have you tried taking them to any of the other 5 locations? They may offer you partial, full, or store credit, or nothing. But if they are dying, you're not getting your money back anyway. GL. |

| one of the stores is a chain (3 in the same city). they won't take the fish at all. the balas came from petsmart, and there are 2 of them here. so that's 5 of the stores right there. the other is a place that i don't really like dealing with.
i just got to thinking, what fish would i get in their place, and nothing really jumps out that i like that much. Last edited by Shawnie; September 25th, 2009 at 09:46 AM.

I see someone selling some bala's and barbs in your area so a free to good home add might get someone to jump at it!
no one likes to take others fish as they dont want their tanks infected on the chance of someone elses fish...which to me, is great they care that much for sure but stinks when a store sells fish too large for a tank without letting you know this prior...keep trying and dont give up!!!! |

| Hey Swifterz! Sounds like you have MTS without the M. Just don't fill the tank just to fill it...wait for something you really want that you CAN HAVE |

| yeah that's just the thing. i pretty much know what all is out there, and none of it jumps out at me as something i could get and not second guess myself. i really don't want to do that anymore. |

| What is your current stocking list without the balas (you are getting rid of them so maybe we can come up with ideas for when they are gone) Last edited by Diggly; September 25th, 2009 at 01:46 PM.

| have you taken a look at bottom dwellers?
Kuhli loaches are pretty cool and interesting, I am not sure how much room clown loaches need and you need a few but if other members agree on them I would definitly recommend them. |

| For bottom dwellers, I would do a school of zebra or polkadot loaches. |

| i almost bought yoyo loaches when i got my firemouths. clowns would be alright, but don't they need a bigger tank. i know they grow extremely slow though. they look so much like my tiger barbs too. i want variety in my fish. |

| Hey Swifterz, if I remember right this is a 55gal tank right?
If so how about another small Central to go with your Meeki?

| i had thought about a convict but their aggression scares me.
then i thought about a blue acara but i'm not sure.
keyholes are alright too but i'd like something a little more colorful. GBR's are all sold so small around here, like much smaller than my tiger barbs. |

Some Centrals that would work in a 55gal with what you have may be.
One of the smaller Herichthys species (if avaliable)
Cryptoheros Nanoluteus (if you can find them)
Archocentrus Sajica
Neetroplus Nematopus
Herotilapia Multispinosa
Archocentrus sp. "Cutteri"
Hope that helps some.
