higher temps when cycling fishless, speeds up the cycle process usually ...the higher the better

it is really hard to be patient with the tank cycling but its worth it, You could also look at adding some nutrafin cycle from petsmart to jump start the tank with benificial bacteria, I have used it on 2 different tanks, 46g and 29g and it worked great and helps with adding fish faster, but you would need to do water test every 2 days if you go this route

Isn't this the stuff that grows the wrong bacteria and requires you add it for the life of your tank to keep it cycled?

Brimstonepdx you are correct. Nutrafin Cycle would have to be added for the life of the tank. It doesn't contain the necessary bacteria for the tank to cycle properly. If you used Cycle to start with and then you stopped using it chances are your nitrogen cycle would crash and you'd have to start all over. I suggest keeping on the path that you're on without any added chemicals.

I agree with aquarist48, I read a few articles about using beneficial bacteria and the cost in the long run. Stay away unless you like to spend money. Though there are two brands that actually do have live nitrifying bacteria, Tetra SafeStart and Superbac. These products will finish a new cycle in a week but you started the cycle already.
