What a morning!

Well, the cat woke me up early this morning wanting to play with my toes, so I got up a 4:45. Hubby had already left for work. (Sure glad I dont have to go to work that early) lol. As usual I put on the coffee, let the dogs out, and turned on the aquarium lights. I have 38 new platty babies in a breeder box, so I decided to do a water parameter test just to be sure everything was good for them. My amonia was up to .50 and my pH was down to 6.0. I've never had a problem with the ph before. I started a water change right away. After replacing 30% of the water and adding condioner with a ph buffer water tested fine. As I was putting away the conditoner I decided to rearange the bottom of my tank stand. Thats when I found one of my mystery snails in the bottomof a box. I don't know how long he has been there. I almost chunked him but decided to see if he might be alive, well he is. I have looked for the other one but have not found it yet. Sometimes they hide under things. Hopefully it is still in the tank. I gues the escapee crawled out around the filter somehow. It's like taking care of kids. You never know what.s going to happen next.

Good morning Summersquash. Yeah!!!!!! Congrats on the new fry. I know you must be exicted. I'm a bit concerned though about the pH buffer? Are you using something called pH UP? A chemical to adjust your pH levels? If so, that could be the cause of your unstable pH. They are very unreliable, causes pH to fluctuate and can even cause your pH to crash. Most fish will adapt to the pH levels that we have to offer right from the tap (with chlorine removed of course).
Best of luck with your fry. We'd love some pictures
Have a great 4th!
