Hello queenbobby. The 50% water that the other guy wants isn't going to do him any good. The good bacteria needed to cycle the tank is not free swimming but attached to all surface areas so I say if he wants it let him have it. As far as your new tank is concerned, use the remaining water, add and treat some fresh water and it will be just like doing a 50%water change. You need to keep your filter media from the old tanks filter and use it in the new tank filter or else you'll have to start your cycle over from scratch. If you want to give the man a piece of your filter media that would be nice but don't give him so much that it throws you into a mini cycle. Also keep an eye on your readings and I suggest that you not add any new fish (other than what your transferring over from the old tank) at least for a couple of weeks. Then add 2 or 3 at a time if that is your plan.
Best of luck with the new tank. Hope you can share some pictures along the way.
Have a good day!
ps
If you'd be so kind as to type without using all CAPS would be much nicer and easier for us to read. (All caps is considered yelling )
