| Hey, sorry you seem to have troubles.
How long has Sunny been in the tank? Is he maybe trying to get used to the new environment?
Is your tank cycled? What are your water readings?

| Echoing Beth here.
I think guppies are pretty hyper fish. At least mine are. |

| I've seen my guppies (fancy and endlers) as well as other livebearers eating about to grow algae from the tank's interior walls, as the one growing on driftwood or leaves of plants. Mine are kind of hyper as Lucy's.

| No, I let it run for a few days before I got my fish. It's cycled, all right. |

You need to read up on the nitrogen cycle, and get yourself an API master test kit. This will allow you to test for ammonia nitrites and nitrates. Now that you have fish in the tank, you will have to do water changes each day with a product like Prime. It will detoxify your ammonia for 24 hrs between water changes. I hope your fish are ok. Good luck. |

| Yeah, I really need a test kit. I think I'm going back to get the rest of my fish on Sunday, so I'll get one then. he's seemed to calm down quite a bit now. |

It can effect their immune system and leaves them more suseptable to disease and possible death.
Please be patient, get your test kit and see where you are in the cycle. |

| Yeah, it's usually not a good idea to list to fish store advice. They will say anything to make a sale. Sad but true. |

| It came up with Reef Master Test Kit. Is Reef the brand?
I also found this one for 5 bucks, it's a top seller: Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Freshwater Master and Mini Test Kits Last edited by redtailfreak; June 23rd, 2009 at 05:57 PM.

| You want the API master kit (the top seller). Really hope you listen to the advice above and not buy anymore fish until you are cycled. |

| Try the walmart website, I think the API master kit is chaeper there.
It lasts forever and very accurate, well worth the money. |

| You can also buy Tetra Laborette Master Test kit at petco for around 25 bucks, its cheaper but it doesn't last as long as the API test kit. Do not buy test strips as they may give false readings. If you're really tight on money just bring a small ziplock bag filled w/ your aquarium water to your LFS and ask them to test it. They'll usually test it for free.
In case your tank is not cycled, you can buy this product called SuperBac and it will cycle your tank within a week. I used it and it took 2 weeks to cycle but that's because I replaced an existing driftwood with a smaller driftwood and probably took out most of the good bacteria. Another member have used it and finished cycling in a week. One member has also treated her tank going through a mini cycle and worked instantly. You will not find it in most chained pet stores but perhaps a mom n pop store may have it. Here's there website that shows a map of which stores carry their product. http://www.naturbac.com/dealers.html |
