angel fish swims looking up

i have
2 angel fish
2 rubber lip plecos
1 emd grn cry cat fish

the older and slightly larger angel fish swims the whole tank with his mouth ponted to the top of the tank and he seems to have a gray or white layer of something on his entie body. his fins all seem smaller and he does not eat. his gills and fins look ok. but the rest of his body seems kinda stiff. i do 1/2 gallon water changes 2 or 3 times a week i keep my tenk between 75F and 78F for temp and unualy when i have my water tested its been good(other than right after i cured for ICH.) and i vacum my gravel about once a month. i do have alot of algae. i do still have the tank slightly salted to prevent ich from being an issue again. and i add bacteria suplement every week or so. any ideas?

First off what bacterial supplement are you using? Unless it is Tetra SafeStart, it is most likely NOT an aquatic bacteria.
Second, a gravel vac is best done once a week.
What are you water parameters? If the ich is gone, I would get the salt out ASAP, as plecos do no do well with salt at all.

my bacteria suplement is topfin. the petsmart brand.
i will try to increase my gravel vacuming
i dont know the parameters right now i usualy take a sample to the pet store and they test it.
and i have been doing the water changes and not addin the salt back in. so t should be much lower now and the plecos have been doing fine. the ich has been gone for over a month now.

the weird thing is i have carefully looked at the other fish and the 1 angel is the only one infected and he survived the ich and i have had it since late january. he was the only surviver of the ich because the pet store told me to use rid-ich and it did not work at all. so when i was down to the last fish i did an enormous water change and added salt and turned the temp up almost to 90. that killed the ich. but the point is he is the oldes fish and is the only one infected so i dont think it is something my newer fish(all in the tank for 2-3 weeks.) brought with them. and since only one fish is infected that would make it hard for it to be a water problem wouldent it?

nevermind. from other sources i have found that this fish has been externaly dammaged and has a fungal infection and by the way it is swiming i am told that the internal organs have been infected and he will most likely die today or tonight. oh well such is life.

thanks to those who tried

sounds like a swim bladder problem. this symptom can be caused by different reasons one being exposure to toxins in the water amoung others. unfortunately its difficult to treat the fish it seems once its reached the state you describe. watch the fish closely and if death seems inevitable (which is most likely the case) you may want to consider euthenizing him using clove oil and vodka. iv'e had fish die from this problem. you could try putting him in a hospital tank and treating for internal and external parasites. i forget exactly which meds to try but its pretty much the only chance you have. google swim bladder problems and you will come across the meds. if all fails after a week of treatment i would recomend euthenasia.

Did I read correctly that you are doing half gallon water changes? Your water changes should be more like 50%. I would do a 50% water change once each week and continue 30% to 50% water changes weekly as your regular aquarium maintenance. For the fish in your tank I would keep the tank at a minimum of 78 degrees. I keep my tank at 82, it gets warmer in the summer months too and the fish are fine. I agree with Saqib, fish can survive a lot. I would not be to quick to euthanize your angel.

Angels plecos and cories don't like salt. If it is swim bladder thawed frozen peas work well.
