platy has something caught on it

one of my platys has something caught on it. it looks like a thread, going in its mouth but also wrapped back and caught in its gill. its really affecting it. im thinking i should catch it and try to cut it at the gill and pull it out of its mouth.

It looks like one of the roots from the Hygro I see in there. He might've been swimming through and it got caught? I hope she gets better soon

ok. i took her out, cut the thread...thatwas really hard, it was very tight against her body.
i gently pulled on it out of her mouth. i got it out!!

thing is, now that she is back in i see a very small piece still sticking out of her gill. think i should leave it?

Well that is very odd. Glad to know she'll be doing better.
