Air Pump Question...

Hello everyone, I just bought an 3 inch airstone to put into my 29 gallon. Do air pumps help reduce fish stress or will it stress them out? They seem to aviod the airstone that I have in there right now, but it has ony been running for about 20 min. So, should I move the airstone near the back of the tank or is it fine in the middle? I do not have the air pump turned up all the way, its on a very low power right now. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

I would think that if it bothers the fish, they will stay away from the bubbles, so that could be your answer. If the fish keep avioding the bubbles, put the airstone in the back of the tank. They surface agitation that the airstones produce as the bubbles reach the surface, help to put oxygen into the water, which is a good thing.
