Really need help.

So I have a few questions...
The other day I bought a male fighting and my mum did on the same day...
so anyway one of the males had to go in the big tank with the others
because our female started attacking it (we think she killed the other male)
then we noticed our goldfish attacking the male fighting fish
so we took him out and he ended up dying
So one of my questions is do goldfish usually kill fish?
maybe cause it was new?
And the next morning my stepdad took the goldfish out and put it in
measuring bowl thing in just TAP WATER which i know it so stupid.
The goldfish started losing his colour and floating on his side
he ended up dying.........
Then my stepdad cleaned the filter and instead of cleaning the tank
he just added water ager into the old water
and I noticed the water became really cloudy and smelled disgusting!
So today he cleaned the tank out entirely.......
Added water ager and conditioner stuff.
Then not long after we put them all back in
They were all dying!
I also noticed the ager smelt really bad..........
We took them out but they werent coming good
The other goldfish was doing what happened before the other one died
the only other 2 that were left was my 2 angel fish and some other fish
But i noticed they were sick because they wouldnt eat
So then my stepdad stupidly put them back into the tank?!?!
So then the goldfish and my angel fish died
And I assume my other fish is dead too ((((((
Also we have this ornament in there that used to have batteries
which i thought was stupid and i was wondering would that be affecting the tank but it hasnt before and its been in there awhile......
also when you put conditioner in and ager is the water supposed to go super green? or is he putting in too much?!
also heard you arent supposed to fully clean the filter?
What went wrong? I'm confused and angry at my stepdad
he thought he should just put them back in to see if they survive
because they wouldnt have gotten any better?
now all we have left is our 2 fighting fish because they werent in that tank.
sorry this is so long but i need to know what happened.
and how it can be prevented or if theres something in the water around here.
all help is appreciated

Well... what a story. To start off, putting the bettas in that tank to begin with was as silly as your stepdad putting the goldfish in a measuring cup. Bettas are not meant to be in a community tank like that but....
What is "ager".
Also, are there expiration dates on the conditioner and/or ager that was put in the tank?
What size is the tank, how long was it stocked and was is cycled?
It would help a lot if you filled in your aquarium info.

I'm thinking that the ager is some sort of chemical with beneficial bacteria. What product are you using?

One) What's 'ager'
Two) Goldfish and Angels ARE NOT tank mates. Goldfish are coldwater. Angels are not.
Three) Siamese fighters (bettas) are not community compatable normally.
What are your water parameters?
