I have a male guppy hiding behind the filter in my 12 gallon cube. Not sure why. It's in my office tank and they take a "weekend fast" (with weekend food cubes on long weekends - though that hasnt happened yet)

Anyway...I got in this morning to find him hiding behing the filter. Everything else is normal, he just refuses to come out from behind the filter.

any ideas why?

Just some other info: Readings are all fine - 0,0, 10 or so. Not sure what the deal is. He came out during feeding briefly, and went directly back in - so I know he's not stuck.

Not really. Some bumblebee gobies and ghost shrimp. That's about it.

My bettas will hide behind the filter to get a break from the current. Could it be that the current is too strong for him? My other guess is as Shawnie said, that he is a bit scared cause he doesn't have any guppy friends.

Sorry, there are two female guppies in the tank in addition to him.

The current thing is a possibility, but the two females don't hide behind the filter. So..I dunno. I have read these tanks have a bit too strong a current with their filter - so maybe that is it.

WEll...he died so I guess something was wrong

Gotta get a new male now - these guys have to breed to create a natural food source for my gobies

New male seems to be doing a lot better. No idea why the first one died, could have just been from before.

who knows?

Just realized something - I think one of my "female guppies" is actually a male. She was in the female guppy tank, but "she" seems to be bullying around the new male pretty bad. Might be what LED to the old males demise. Any thoughts?

I'll see if I can get some pics.

Try looking at their anal fins, if it's pointed it's male if it's round then it's female.
