Will my injured Molly heal?

Hi All!!
I have a beautiful male Yellow Molly who is the king of the tank! A week ago during routine maintenance I think I must have caught him under the tube of my gravel vacuum. For the first day he floated head up then found a place to lie on a water pump. After convalescing 3 days I found him lying upright on the bottom and using his front fins to awkwardly propel himself around and he is eating well though he has lost weight. On his right side a little over half way back I see a vertical crease with some swelling around it! I wonder if he has swelling which is temporarily paralyzing his tail area of if I have crippled him for life! Any suggestions? PS. There are no fish picking on him. My angels ignore everything that isn't an angel and the little platy's pretty much leave him be also!!

Do you have a q-tine tank you can move him to? You can use Melafix its good for healing wounds if thats what it is. Or do daily partial water changes to keep the water real clean using Stress Coat.

Thanks Christine. My little fella has no external wounds. He is eating well. I've just paralyzed the back third of his little body. His injuries seem to be either nerve and muscle, or possibly skeletal. I do weekly water changes with a two part water conditioner and the water parameters of fine. Has anyone else crippled a fish through their carelessness? And if so did the critter heal or is nerve/skeletal injury on a fish permanent? Come on guys surely someone can give me a prognosis!!

Update on my male Molly. I had to euthanize him as he was struggling more and more to move his crippled little body! I'm so upset I'm going to find a home for my female as looking at her reminds me of him!
