More Powerful Filter?

Hey everyone, I just visited a friend who has a filter that is quite and the filter sits on the ground. I do not know the name of it, only that it cost around $140. Is it really worth to go the extra mile a look at a filter is expensive or will my Power Filter 30 work just fine? Thanks!

Wolf which tank are you using the 30 on? What is the gallons per hour (GPH)?

usually you want the filter to be more powerful than needed just to be safe. Overall i'd say unless this is an expense you really want to/ can make you shouldnt. Of course if you have some money for this that you can just spend it would probably be great for your tank. Overall its up to you, i'm not sure the 30 will be at a fully functional level for a 39 gallon. Of course if it's the 10 gallon your absolutely fine.

I am using it on the 29 gallon and the gph is 200.

Unless the noise is bugging you, the filter you have should be fine. I'm assuming what your friend had was a canister filter. If you decide you'd like to upgrade someday, I'd recommend either the Fluval 205 or Rena XP2 for a 29 gallon (Eheim is a better brand, but these are more cost-effective).

As long as you're not over stocked I think the filter you are currently using should be fine on the 29g. Stuffing it full of bio media will help as well (adding more in addition to what came with the filter) if it's possible. Sometime we just have to stop, look and listen and appreciate what we already have. (not to mention that $140 would go along way towards another tank As smiley said it's really kind of up to you if you want to go the route of another type of filter or a larger one.
Sometime I tell myself "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Enjoy your fish.
