GloFish

I was browsing my LFS when I came across some of the coolest looking fish I've ever seen. I have become enthralled it seems and must now have a tank dedicated to their awesomeness. My birthday is this upcoming Sunday and I thought it would be a good time to get a new tank .

I need some advice on the size and shape of the tank (was thinking 20 gal. long) and on keeping the little guys themselves. I would like to have a decent size school so all help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you both for the replies, I think I'll go ahead and grab the twenty gal and get around 9-12 glofish. After I cycle the new tank first

Hi
Most of the glofish are Zebra Danios and they require the same care and attention as them. if you really want show there colors you could get a black light to bring out their colors.
Enjoy them

well a 20g for glow fish sounds great, especially long. they are fast and dash around the tank so a long is appropriate. if you keeping just them i would go with 1 per gallon. so 20, but i think only a dozen will be nice, just to make a lesser chance of disease. you might want to consider some bottom dwellers, i recommend corries and/or kuhlis.

They like their temperature to be at 22C-24C, but they don't have to be heated but like to. i keep a close cousin of glow lights (golden and zebra danios) at 26C. these guys are quite hardy and like a pH of about 7.

Good luck! i hope i helped.

If you wanted you could mix in a few Zebra danios as well... A 20l0ong sounds great for them!

I'd suggest going with no more than ten of them... and a couple less if you plan on getting any other fish (like cories or the like).
Even small fish produce waste and can be really difficult to keep up with nitrate production.
I'd also suggest only getting a few at a time after cycling your tank. You don't want to overload the system by dropping all of them in at once.
