background help

I have already installed my background on my 72 gal bow front tank. It is not as clear as I would like it and I was told about a product called Seaview. Problem is that my tank is already full and unable to move and not much room between the tank and the wall. I can remove the background as it is only taped on as of now but how can I reinstall it with the seaview on it and get rid of the air bubbles. Any suggestions?

If I am reading correctly, the seaview is on the inside of the tank now.
If you remove it, why dont you replace it to the outside of tank. I realize you said there is liimited space between wall and tank though, would this still work?

No. I have it taped on the back with clear tape. But it looks dull through the water. I was told that the product named SeaView which is like a clear Adhesive also makes the background look much brighter. But you need apply it to the background then attach to back of glass and then remove all airbubbles. I just can't think of a way to attach it and remove the air bubbles with so little area behind tank

You could try a squeegie or an aquarium algea scraper to reach towards the middle of the tank. It is hard to do and a royal pain but it can be done. You have to work from both sides and it will take some strange positions on your part to get it all on there right but it will be worth the aggravation.

Thanks. I am going to give that a try tonight with some help from my wife. Look for the divorce listings in newspaper tomorrow LOL

A friend of mine puts vasoline on the tank back then puts the background on and uses a squeegie to smooth it out. You don't even have to use tape. It makes the background very bright also.

LOL Well I am not going to lie to you. I had my son hold one side of it while I just got the other side started....it was ugly. If I have to do that again I will do it by myself with the extra hands of some temporary tape!!! Maybe you should try it with tape on one side and you working on the other before you get your wife involved...then if all else fails get her to hold it up to the back of the tank until you can get to the other side. Good luck to ya and let us know how it turns out.

Carol I use Vasoline here too...not seaview. It is pretty much the same affect. I do have to put a little clear tape on the edges sometimes though.

We did it and noone was killed or injured and we are still together. It was close but we survived. It looks so much better, I wish the LFS had informed me of this product when I purchased the aquarium and before I had installed everything. It would have been so easy if I hadn't already had a tank full of water against a wall.

Glad to hear everyone survived. I'm sure that it was touch and go for a while but sure glad you both made it. LOL. I have been in that situation more than once and it is never any fun. Everytime I forget to put the background on I don't realize it until I have a tank slap full of water, fish....ect. You would think after one time of doing that you would not do it again.
