Bumblebee Goby

Thinking of getting 2-3 Bumblebee Gobies for my 12 gallon cube tank (the freshwater ones).

My thought was this - get maybe 2 BB gobies and 1 male and 2-3 female guppies.

My thought is that the guppies who would consistently be having babies (hopefully?) would provide plenty of "live food" for the gobies.

Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts?

BB Gobies are brackish water fish, not sure how that would fit in with your plans.

There is a species of BB Goby that is specifically freshwater. There is a HUGE misconception throughout the internet and fish communities that all BB Gobies are brackish and it's not the case.

Read a few studies where it's shown that most species of BB Gobies do fine in either, although there are a few that are strictly brackish, and a few that are strictly freshwater (but can still last - but not thrive - in either). The local fish store has a fish listed by latin name and its one of the ones that is strictly freshwater.

So, I'm not too concerned. If I notice anything too off, I can always make adjustments (i.e. if I was sold the wrong fish), but this LFS is pretty spot on.

I don't want to offend anyone but I'm sure those who say they are brackish don't own them/never owned them or are just repeating info said to them.

I own several freshwater bumblebee gobies, 4 now and several in the past and the longest living out of them is my 1 year and older I've named grumpy Yes I have lost a couple a day or two after introducing them to my aquarium but I blame that on numerous reasons.

Just make sure you find the freshwater ones and good luck
