I have a 20 gallon tank with 4 marble hatchet fish, a bristle nosed catfish, 3 ottos that hide all day, and a betta that is not aggressive. I wanted to get some more fishies, but I don't know what kinds work good with the fish I already have.

Sounds like you have a tank full all ready I personally wouldn't add any more.

Yeah, you are stocked but you can probably add a Dwarf Gourmai.

Oops, never mind you have a Betta, can't add a DG.

I might get a couple or four more Hatchets, as they like larger schools. Sounds like a lovely set-up, though.

agreed, i'd go with just a couple more hatchets but other than that your tank is pretty full already

Maybe corys are hiding due to Betta . You have plenty of fish. Kind of a mixed tank. I prefer a species tank. Any plants ? How big is your filter ? What are your readings ? What do you feed them ? How long has tank been up ?

No live plants, its a 20-30 gallon filter, the readings are all average, normal readings, i feed the betta betta food and the others tropical fish flakes. The tank has been up for a little less than a year, maybe 10 months.

You need to be feeding them a variety not just flake food. They would like frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp (not everyday) and freeze dried as a treat.

if all your fish are getting along, id leave it be and not add anymore..you are stocked and the betta probably wouldnt tolerate less space by adding more to your hatchet school...

he has ottos not cories..but even ottos come out to explore or eat ..they are amazing lil fish that do a heck of a job on the tank
