Yes you do need to continue using a water conditioner.

Well, got a few things we needed for the tank yesterday so we emptied about 50% of the water, leveled the tank, added more gravel, added another decoration and fixed the airstones. Before we did this I checked the ammonia level and it was around 2.0. So the shrimp is working! Didnt check anything else since we were emptying some water out.

So, we are leaving tonight for vacation and I have a question or two. Should I test for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates before I go? I have had two peices of shimp in the tank since the 13th, should I put two fresh pieces in before we leave or just let the two in there now go until they are completely dissolved?

BTW, the shrimp look kinda cool the way they are dissolving. Need to get a pic of them!

I would just leave the pieces that you have in there now. You could test your water just for an idea of where you are now. I would think you should be showing some ammonia at this point.

im with JD...leave it be...and id also test out of curiosity and knowing where you are now and where you will be when you get back...have a fabulous trip!
