just a quick little update/quick question

I decided not to go along with the 55 gallon aquarium from Walmart, instead I bought the 55 gallon aquarium at Petsmart today, it's Top Fin and also picked up the master test kit. Tomorrow hubby and I will be getting the stand put together, and hopefully go back out to buy the decorations for inside the tank. It's FINALLY going to happen! I've only been chatting about it for months now...lol.

Some one mentioned about getting a pair of the elbow length gloves for cleaning inside the tank... is that a must have? If I don't wear gloves could it harm the fish?

Thanks,
Mae

I don't use glove some people do. You can get disease from fish if you have cuts on your hands (only a few disease) but that's not likely to happen. You also may need it depending on the type of fish you get. I've read and heard that with certain fish gloves are a good idea.

Just don't handle chemicals or wash your hand before. And after make sure that you wash your hands with soap.

I dont wear gloves and haven't evidenced any ill effects.
Seems like a waste to me.

no gloves here, just take off any jewelry or watches and wash your hands and arms up to the elbow at least and rinse really well so there isn't any soap residue, especially if you use hand lotion or anything like that.

I only rinse my hands and arms in water prior to going into the tank. I won't risk using soap until after I've finished with the tank. No gloves.
