feeding time

I have 3 guppys. My problem is one of them is a lot quicker to realize there is food in the tank than the others. He rushes right up as soon as i drop it in. Seems by time the other 2 realize hes already gobbled up quite a bit of it. So i put in a little more. The other 2 eat but the initial eater keeps eating. Can he eat to much and get sick? Any solutions?

I don't know about making him sick but all that goes in must come out as waste. Over feeding can cause issues with your tank parameters.
A fishes stomach is about the size of one eye so they don't need much. If you feel the others aren't getting enough maybe you can distract the piggie away from the food with your finger while the others eat. Or maybe feed in two different spots.

you can try spreading the food out across the tank, or just dropping in very little at first so he can't eat TOO much before they catch on

I have three guppies in my tank and my big red one always realizes the food comes out faster then the others so I put some food first at one location then when my red guppy starts eating I put another bit of flakes a little away from my red one and create a ripple by poking my finger in the water where I dropped the food then the others will find it and eat it.

HUGE run on sentence.

I have 3 fish in one tank and the same problem... I keep 3 types of food due to this issue. Sinking pellets, Floating pellets and Flakes.

I throw in a couple flakes to distract the faster fish, then the sinking pellets to reach the other fish and then the floating pellets since by then all 3 realize there is food. Its been working for me - just make sure not to overfeed; Its hard to watch out for that when working with 3 diff foods.
