Car Ride Home, New fish

Whats the longest ride a fish can tank from the fish store to home. I have only tried about 15 mins, what do you guys suggest.

Couple fish i would like to get but only a couple shops carry them.

I have had fish in bags as long as a few hours and they have been find. If you need to drive a little ways to get to the LFS, don't worry about the commute, your fish should do fine

I've driven 7 hours with gold fish in a cooler with an air stone. All survived. Too, the best fish store, closest to me is an hour away. All that I have bought there survived the trip as well. This particular fish store adds oxygen into the bag from their oxygen tank. Best LFS I've ever been in.

The closest LFS and Petsmart are about 45 minutes away and I've never had a problem. I've also bought at a store about 2 hours away and they did fine also. As long as they put plenty of water and air in the bag, they should be fine.

Me too, several hours. I used a cooler to help keep the temperature/

some of us ship fish in bags and they go many hours before arriving...have the LFS use some tank buddies(meds to relax fish and oxygenate) and as long as the temps dont change drastically, you will be fine

Hmm good to know yea i want to go pick up some Celestail Pearl Danios, they are rather hard to find, I know a LFS has them about hour and half away but i found some one on Craigslist about 45 mins away that has 100 of them

So i guess 45 mins in nothing then

The closet store to me is about 45 min. I take a small cooler and stick the bag in there.

I live a hour and a half away from my nearest LFS too. The fish always do just fine. I've never had any problems transporting them.

I take fish back and forth between home and my college dorm room, which is a 2 hour drive one way, and I've never had any problems. As others have already suggested, a small cooler does help keep temps stable, and I always add some stress coat to the bag.
