Water syphoning for newbies

Thought this might be helpful to newbies, since most syphoning products don't come with very accurate instructions (they fail to tell you to use your thumb on the other end ! )

After not having syphoned water in a good ten years, I was having difficulty (more like pulling my hair out in frustration ) getting a syphon going. So I searched YouTube for an instructional video, and found a pretty good one.

here's the link

How does she have that much suction to be able to suck up all the gravel!! IMO she moves it around to fast. I just move mine around and drag it through the gravel. But I only have an inch or so of gravel anyway so...........

I've never had gravel shoot up the vac to be honest. I usually press it over an area till the dust stops coming out and then move it to the next place. I don't swish it about like that, think it'd ruin my aquascaping and scare the fish
