| Feeding time! I am curious if anybody lets their fish's know when its feeding time,or is the sight of you enough too let them know, By letting them know, for instance i give my tank a little tap, as not all the fish see me approaching and i want too give them a time too get out and feed ? | Just like pavlov's experiment with dogs, fish can 'learn' to look for signs that feeding time is coming.
If you always do something before you feed them, as soon as you do it, they come out to feed.
Mine react to 'lights on' and 'me raising hood' |

| By feeding at precisely the same time every day my fish are usually waiting for me. I don’t tap on my aquarium to alert them to feeding time it my guppies that tap on the aquarium to remind me that it is feeding time. |

| Hello. My fish in the 155g are elderly. They don't let me forget to feed them. They can really make a splash when they're hungry. I see a big orange blob in one corner when it's time. Love it! The juvies in the 26g have just started learning over the past week when feeding time is. They see me feed the guys in the big tank first and they know theirs is coming. |

| My fish think it's feeding time every time someone gets close enough to the tanks. My 6 year old daughter usually does the feeding. We can also be watching tv sitting right next to my 55g and the BR parrots and Pearls just swim to that end of the tank and stare at me and my wife. We love it!!!! |

| I don't think I've owned a more personable fish than the Bloody Parrots and I've kept fish for many many years. |

Just a little too true. My guppies expect to be fed every time I’m in sight. Alerting fish to feeding time doesn’t seem too important. They are ALWAYS ready to eat. |

Whenever I open the lid, I will look down through the front of the tank and will see no fish! Because they're all up at the top. My Giant Danios act like they are starving. lol I swear one fo these days, one of them is going to jump right out of the tank. They go absolutley nuts at feeding time.
How often do you feed yours. I was going to feed mine only once a day but I can't bear the thought of having to go 12 hours with no food. So I feed mine on the 8's. 8am and 8pm. Last edited by DE88ROX; May 4th, 2009 at 07:23 AM.

| I feed a few flakes in the morning, but they know the good stuff comes in the evening. They come out and stay close to the top around 6pm, that's when they get flakes, a few worms, a few pellets or algae rounds. |

| My fish only get fed once a day. My rainbow fish in my 75 gallon go NUTS whenever I open the lid. The fish in my 55 are not nearly as eager, but everyone gets some, and my 29 sits somewhere between the two extremes. |

| My cories lie in a "train" formation right under the door in the lid in the afternoons; it seems they tell ME when it's feeding time. |
