Freshwater BeginnersA place where freshwater aquarium fish beginners can go to post their questions and hopefully get responses from those more experienced. Also check out the Freshwater Fish Beginner's Guide and Aquarium Setup Guides. Setting up a new freshwater aquarium can be a rather large project and you want to make sure you do it right the first time. If you need help with your fish tank please don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what this fish forum is all about!
I have 2 glass fish in my tank ("survivors" from the initial school that just didn't make it). Both of these fish have white markings on them (that look like ICH from what I've read). However, none of my other fish have any similar markings, and both of these fish are doing fine. The glassfish that passed away in my tank (unknown reasons, water params and everything are fine) had no such markings.
The guy at the LFS told me that these fish in particular are suceptible to "bad batches" and it's always a crapshoot. Well, I got these two left and I'm wondering if I should bring them back before the disease (whatever it may be) spreads.
Like I said, the rest of my fish are doing fine, no white markings or odd behavior of any kind (although the loaches might have some, I never see them). Any advice?
I'm sure someone has come across this a million times before, so yeah.
Also, the vid in my other post has a couple of pretty clear views of the white spots on the glass fish. I'll just post the video link here to save time.
You catch some brief glimpses of them, but clear, at the 1:20 or so mark.
if its ich, and its visible (hard to tell on a white fish in the vid) its already contaminated the tank so wouldnt matter removing them or not at this point..maybe as a percaution, turning up the temps for 2 weeks with some extra bubble wands and gravel vacs, would be good....love the doggie LOL
